As I see it, design is the way to provide form to − or to body forth−the fruits of intuition, thus creating something innovative, technically manufacturable and a source of great joy.

Conceptions

The initial impressions, that are jotted down in preliminary sketches, emerge from dealings with the principal, who must create or revamp agiven product. The variables and, in the event, limitations posed by the intended use and production methods are considered already during this embryonic design stage.

Design proposals

After the initial sketches, the process leads on to a set of detailed proposals which shall be helpful during discussions with the principal. Feedback from this meeting will enable selection and optimization of the best project.

Development of the model

The creative project is embodied in three-dimensional models. During this stage, we must seamlessly combine technical aspects and limitations with those pertaining to the design and ergonomic sides of the project. The role of designersis decisive, given their in-depth knowledge of the production processes implemented to manufacture the end-product.

Production and trials

Projects soon become workable. The idea is first recorded on a digital sheet, after which the fine points are individualized, and at last the project assumes a form. This is the time we − both the principal and the designer− have been eagerly waiting for. At this stage, the designer may provide key instructions in order to make surethe finished project reflects the original idea both functionally and look-wise.
