This project came to me during a stay on the ISLAND OF GRAN ROQUE in Venezuela.
While walking along the beach I could not but notice how the sea, wave after wave, uncovered shells and pieces of wood and coral upon the sand, whose forms and colours I found fascinating because they held within them all that only time and the force of nature are capable of producing. Out of all this came the idea of producing a collection of necklaces and bracelets featuring these objects just as nature bequeathed them to us, with the addition of crafting and also original, refined design work − not only for wearability but alsofor items that are even more unique than the ‘originals’.
The accessories were commissioned from local craftspeople. The project therefore morphed into collaboration based on intercultural exchanges capable of bringing together a variety of skills.
